Hokay, I've made a start on me blog.

It's quite plain at the moment, only one picture. And I'm a bit disatisfied that it's kind of upside down (you have to scroll to the bottom to find the first post and then work your way back up the page - I know this keeps the most recent post at the top, but still, I don't like it. I just don't know how to reverse it - ideas anybody?).

The address: http://monodreme.wordpress.com/

I'm a working guest no longer. Now I'm a co-worker, taking increasing responsibilty for maintenance and also lending my graphic skills in the marketing area. I'll be interested to see what my optimal role here will be.

The days are very rich and full. At the moment I have no idea how to convey the difference between this and my previous lifestyle in a way that truly expresses it. The people are as fallible as any I've known; we all have our different ideas, few things can be agreed upon quickly. This is very visible during meetings.

But it's the times between meetings, when we are just getting on with stuff, that the inherent benefits of community living just float effortlessly to the surface. We're here because we want to be here, and that means we're here for each other.

Yes, I'm still settling in. Discovering, discovering, discovering ... every day.

And yes, the opportunities to get out in nature are wonderful. Went for a walk in some woods yesterday and came back feeling quite high.

That's a cracking start, Ian.

Although you're plainly full of enthusiasm for the whole thing, not once do you gush. A fine balancing act there.

Oh, yeah. I will comment on your blog itself, but there's all that virgin space and I'm happy to (*choses metaphor carefully*) let someone else have the privilege of going first!

Fantastic Ian. I particularly liked this section >> "There’s a great line in Blackadder where Edmund says to Mrs Miggins: “I am quite happy to wear clothes without having the faintest idea about how they work.” When I think of people who are content to go about their daily business without being interested in how it actually works, how it is actually possible that it seems to have come about that they are a carbon based life form sitting watching Eastenders for the umpteenth time, or going to work, or going on holiday, or having an argument with their nearest and dearest, or having great sex by the light of the moon, then I think of that quote....."

Great analogy to explain why us kooky folks are interested in spirituality and the nature of existence. Loved it. Well done...

Can't knock the writing but I'd personally use a smaller font and experiment with some alternative themes available for wordpress but I imagine you will, as you get the hang of the blogging application.

Cheers, Col. Well I've had a comment already so the blog's cherry has been plucked.

But it's a funny thing because I don't actually feel especially gushy about it. I almost didn't have the energy for doing the blog at all but a couple of people asked me about it and I had a nice quiet Sunday on.

I guess the way I feel is that, right now, it's not so much about what I have gained as what I have shed in leaving Swansea behind.

But I'm kind of interested to do a "Day in the Life of Newbold" post at some point. Then I'll just mention highlights as and when they come up until my Wordpress word count excedes its limit.

Thanks, Jen. Glad you like it.

Do you know if there's any way of getting the posts to appear with first posts from top to bottom rather than bottom to top?

Now about those interlinear spaces ...

Maybe that's just the style of page you're using. I know I use wordpress but have never delved too much into fiddling about with it, but if you go to the dashboard and 'change the look of your site' you can pick various themes. You probably already know that.

I just find it hard to read with no space between lines and the font looks too big to me. I'm having to read it from across the room.

Sorry Ian, I don't know. That seems to be the way these blogs work. If I find out how to reverse the order, I'll let you know. Maybe there is a setting you can change in admin. You can create pages though (on the installed version at least) so they are set aside from the main steam of posts.

For anyone else who wants their own weblog you can use either >> http://wordpress.com/ (their website) or http://wordpress.org/ (to download & install it on your own hosting).
